First Steps to Creating your Client Account at Elance

Creating an Elance account to hire contractors is quick and easy.  Within a matter of minutes you can be posting your first job to professional providers around the world.
There are two important aspects of creating your Client account:

1. Email Verification - One important part of the account setup process is verifying your email.  When you submit the account information page, an email will be sent to verify your email address.  Please open this email and click the link within the email address to proceed.   If you need to have the email addressed changed or resend the verification email just click on the appropriate link.  You will not be able to contact candidates until your email address is verified. You can create job postings but your jobs will not be live on Elance until you verify your email address.
2. Adding a Payment Source - In order to view Proposals and communicate with service providers you will need a payment source on file. You can use your Visa, MasterCard or American Express credit card or your PayPal account. This helps make Elance a safe place to do business. It also shows that you are serious about engaging with Elance professionals.

If you are ready to create your account and post your 1^st job on Elance, please follow these steps below:

1. Click on the Post Your Job button at the top of the Elance home page
2. Click the button next to I Want to Hire and then click the Continue button link.
3. First you will need to fill in your account details.  Please fill out all fields, if you have any questions along the way look for the tip that will appear to the right of each box for additional information.
4. Next you will be prompted to create your job post and then click continue.  Remember to be as detailed and specific as you can. 
5. Select the posting type.  You can choose from Featured, Verified and Basic job postings.
6. For Featured and Verified posts, you will be required to add a payment source and pay the fee.
7. At this point, you will be prompted to check your email.  Elance will send an email to your registered email address.  Once you receive the email, click on the link to verify your email address.  Once this step complete, your account will be registered and your job will be published.

Note: If you chose the Basic posting option, you will need to add a payment source (credit card or PayPal) before you will able to view proposals and begin to communicate with service providers.

Not ready to Post a Job, but you want to create a client account?

To create a Client account on Elance, please follow the steps below:

1. Click on the Register link in the top right of the Elance Home Page.
2. Click the button next to I Want to Hire and then click the Continue button link.
3. Complete the registration fields and enter your contact information and click Continue.
4. At this point, you will be prompted to check your email.  Elance will send an email to your registered email address.  Once you receive the email, click on the link to verify your email address.

Once your account is created, you can post jobs, hire providers, work online, and pay your providers safely.
